DAC reaches milestone, submits planning request to city
The Douglas Avenue Coalition this week reached a significant milestone when it submitted an official request to the city of Des Moines for assistance in developing a comprehensive corridor plan for the nearly three mile-long Douglas Avenue corridor. The plan will be developed in conjunction with several local, county, and state agencies, as well as a consultant who will study the corridor to identify needs and then develop a plan to address them.
Corridor plans typically address issues including traffic flow patterns, infrastructure needs, walkability, streetscaping, and more.
The development of a comprehensive corridor plan has been a major objective of DAC since its foundation in 2015.
