DAC receives $25K grant
Polk County supervisor Angela Connolly attended the Douglas Avenue Coalition’s August meeting and presented the organization with a check for $25,000.
The money is in the form of a Polk County community development grant. These grants are intended to help non-profit organizations fund projects or programs which will benefit the entire community.
DAC will use the funds to sponsor a comprehensive corridor plan which will study traffic patterns, infrastructure, and more along Douglas Avenue and make recommendations designed to enhance everything from safety and traffic flow to walkability and aesthetics.
The reception of this grant marks a major milestone for the coalition, which identified this study as a primary objective from its formation.
The Douglas Avenue Coalition was formed in 2015 to facilitate the revitalization of the Douglas Avenue commercial corridor through community coalition, strategic improvements, and creative business incentives.
