Successful Public Meeting – Excellent Turnout!

Douglas Avenue Coalition,

What a great meeting we had on Tuesday, October 25th! With over 50 people in attendance, we had a great crowd of people showing excitement for the future of our business corridor. I want to welcome the 22 new people that have been added to our email list. Welcome! We’re glad you have joined us. I also want to thank our special guests: Matt Coen, Dave Nagel, and Laura Peters. Matt and Dave shared about the process taken to improve the Avenues of Ingersoll and Grand (www.theavenuesdsm.com) and about the Des Moines West Side Chamber of Commerce. Laura is a city planner and shared what we can expect going forward with the corridor plan. The plan will be developed in conjunction with several local, county, and state agencies, as well as a consultant who will study the corridor to identify needs and then develop a strategic plan to address them. Corridor plans typically address issues including traffic flow patterns, infrastructure needs, walkability, streetscaping, and more. Thank you all for sharing your experiences; we’re thrilled to have you in our corner!
